One month of Free Android game adventure – 50+ installs, going from 2D – to 3D

First of all – almost all feedback that I got (I mean normal, constructive feedback) tell me that my design is bad, especially – design of buildings. And since I have top-down action in procedural generated cities – it’s really hard to find some normal assets of top-down buildings. So, I decided to make them in 3D! Remember 1 and 2 GTA? Well, this is like that style, just check compare video – and tell me what you think:

One month ago I released my first game for Android – RoboQuads: War Robots . First – as it should be – there was no users at all. Now it have 50+ installs. Not too much, but at least something. Today I released new version with 3D buildings.

Going to 3D

Since there are not too much sprites with top-down buildings view – I decided to make them in 3D. Why not? 🙂 So, I found some models that suits my needs, implemented perspective camera, created some lightmaps (sure – make dynamic light for such game will kill FPS). Check results:
