Two weeks since release – refuse of development light, messengers, still 1+ of installs 😉

Two weeks of game being at Google Play released, after two years of development – time to make some resume 🧐 . First of all – here is last footage of game play – where I fight with first boss.

RoboQuads: War Robots – Boss Fight

It was fun as for free mobile game as for me, but – as usual – I really would like to here some of your feedback 🤔 .

Development never stop!

Actually – continue developing of my game! Here is new screenshots with footage:

What do you think about it? Also – simply try it – and leave feedback. It’s fan as I think 🙂

Lights

An Idea was pretty simple: add some dynamic lights in 2D for my game. So I started to do some research about lightmaps. After several articles and tutorials I made my own lightmap for my robots. And you now what? It looks terrible. Just check this:

What do you think? Can you suggest how to make it better? Leave a comment if so – I will be glad to hear some feedback.

As I think – it require something more then “oh, it’s too easy – just generate lightmaps, adjust it – and done” 🙂 So this task for now is again in my TODO list with mark “spend more time for it”.

But man thing that really frustrated me – was it’s calculation cost. I don’t want to make my game only for PRO phones, I want it to run smoothly on all kind of devices. So for now, when I don’t have any users, statistics and metrics – I decided to leave this task.

Messengers

An idea come to me – I need to promote mobile game on mobile applications. And where people on mobile read all things? Messengers. So, searched through most popular of them – selected 3 messengers – and begin to work with.

Viber

This was one of the most mysterious and difficult messengers. I found that there are some groups (or something like that) functionality. Went into some of them – and didn’t find any possibility to send messages there, or even contact group admin. Just watch their news feed – and that’s all. Maybe I miss something? If you know how it’s possible to post there – just share your thoughts in comments.

Telegram

Here you will not able to post into groups too, but you can check group admins – and contact them about cooperation. Sure – this will cost money, and as I see – not really cheep: in one of such groups min price for post was 65$ – and this is group with around 2k members. So, refused this way for now.

WhatsApp

Well, this was most fun story 🙂 You can join almost all available groups, you can find in internet list of links to join into them. Groups are different in size, but not bigger then 300 members. Usually it’s around 100 members there. And you can post everything there 🙂 Yeah, after posting in some of such little groups – I have around +4-5 new downloads. If you will check my story – 1+ installs on Google Play – 4-5 new users is a progress 😉 Will try this in future, when my new promo video will be ready.

Conclusion

Well, promote free android game on Google Play is still task number 1 for me. If there was at least real feedback from real players – like “add this or that” – it will be much easier, but – when you don’t have real players – you don’t have their feedback, right? 😉 Continue researching 🙂
